Go the nouns.
I should note here that though I am a supporter of the Swans and should be expected to oppose a second Sydney team on selfish grounds, I don’t. Why?
Because I like the potential of an expanded competition in increasing demand for out-of-shape, over-the-hill, dishonest and dirty players, who’re currently disadvantaged by competition from the glut of talented, fit, determined young up-and-comers. I know the kind of football I like and it comes with a dodgy moustache, a curly mullet, half a pack of B&H a day, and a sloppy kidney-punch behind the play. Would Ben Cousins have had such a smirk during his career if he had to face early 1980s-style casual player-on-player violence? I think not.
Hell, increase the comp to 26 and give me a run, Andrew Demetriou, I can tackle high and low with the worst of them.

It’s bullshit, and won’t work.

That’s an argument is it Shakespeare? Phil Gould disagrees with you.

Good luck on the AFL securing the same level of funds in the next TV deal. If you don’t, expect to rationalise a lot of their programs. Western Sydney and Gold Coast will be the first two to go. Western Sydney because if will be bleeding funds, Gold Coast because League and soccer got there first and locked the sponsors up.

Well that wouldn’t breach too many of the IOC’s property rights, would it?
Hell why not just arrange for the Swans supporters to bring red-and-white checkered Croatian flags to every derby, and have the Balkan battles of the NSL all over again?

West Sydney FALCONS
AFL needs an orange team. Two types of falcons have orange underwings. Another type is called the BLACK FALCON. There’s your colours- orange and black- same as NRL Wests Tigers.
Immediately you’ve got some fans who’ve already got those colours. Its reverse strip is black with orange trim, especially when you play them red and white ‘flamingoes’ across town. Make the orange a burnt orange.Falcons aren’t a pretty boy team.
Wear a white strip when you have to with orange and black trim. But always keep your hooped orange& black socks.
So the Falcons have three strips to use - a mostly orange, black or white. That’ll confuse the prey.
Put the Maltese cross on your badge next to a black falcon - on an orange background.
Sell the movie “The Maltese Falcon” in your club shop.
Encourage a middle eastern theme and music. Have belly-dancers for a cheer squad and kebabs for sale. Entertain the AFL like the prudes in Melbourne have never seen. Get crowds out to see “the orange team”.
The FALCONS will swoop on those ugly duckling Swans.

We have a visionary in the house, people. Same as Balmain: why, the daring, the sheer élan!
(It’s going to get confusing when they play the Hawthorn Hawks in brown and yellow).

I think its time that the afl got away from really gay birds and stupid animals as their mascots, and entertained something that has pride, speed and stength - a horse. Enter the WEST(ERN) SYDNEY STALLIONS. The name runs off the tongue - and as for colours - the stallion is predominantly white, with sky blue for the mountains of the west, and green for the rolling plains. Stallions are found in the mountains and on the hills. Just an idea, but i think it might work!

no offence guys but West Sydney don’t even deserve an Afl team. Tasmania deserve one more. Here you are in a stupid rugby dominated area and saying that you guys need 2 afl sides as opposed to Tasmania, who thankfully have not even touched rugby.
New South Wales never had a state of origin team in afl. Tassie did.
As if anyone will watch the ‘West Sydney Falcons’ or ‘West Sydney Stallions’. All u bloody watch is friggin nrl, which is more of a bogan rendezvous than a sport.
A West Sydney team would just be a Sydney version of Carlton - full of shit and cant play for crap. Oh well, the Western Bulldogs would kick West Sydney’s arse everytime. At least tassie would give us a run for our money.
who ever wants a west sydney team can go look at themselves in the mirror because they probably would have a huge piece of dog shit running down their cheek
r u stupid

Congratulations on spelling rendezvous correctly anonymous, I applaud you. Truly you are a prince amongst drive-by masked commenters.
You may find “State of Origin” has quite a different meaning in a place where the term actually means the sport’s premier competition on the planet, as opposed to a pissant comic interlude between rounds where for a week the spectators hope against hope their team’s players won’t pull an ACL or dislocate a nut, then get back to the actual anxiety of club footy.
You may find from my previous commentary at this site that I support a second Sydney team, just so that it will be supported by the AFL at the expense of second-rate Melbourne legacy teams. Like the Bulldogs. A piece of dogshit running down my cheek? Oh, but I do take offence. My tears are washing the small piece of poo onto my Swans guernsey. Sniff.
And FYI, “Sydney version of Carlton” is spelled “Rabbitohs”.

I honestly think Tasmania deserve a team more so than Queensland or NSW. The last match at the Gold Coast only attracted 6k fans. If you consider the population there and then the amount that Aurora stadium in Launceston attracts its a bit of a difference. They should host the Tasmanian games at Bellerive Oval. The south has a bigger population. I would go to any AFL game regardless of who would be playing. They say we can’t afford a team but I think thats complete poo! I am excited about the two new teams coming in though, it will be new and interesting! Gold Coast Gamblers and the West Sydney Drought. Nah jk! Gold Coast Warriors and the West Sydney Rams me thinks. Tassie Avalanche or Brewers would have been awesome hehe.
