The only hope to stop him is Stephen Smith of the “‘g’ for ‘grim’ and ‘t’ for ‘terrible’” fame. You know, the guy on several different channels on election night saying that terribly mundane thing.
Stephen Smith for PM.

At least it’s over now. Time to get on with the job of ousting Howard in ‘07!

You’re either a fantasist or you’re not telegraphing your jokes, Patrick. Stephen Smith even has the voice of a Dalek.
Bring Garrett to the front bench on climate change. Or, y’know, as whatever. Defence?

What? No. No.
I’ll be interested in analysis of the “what happened where” variety, when it is forthcoming. I will also be interested in seeing if, after all the Sunrise hype, Peter Garrett is actually given Environment or a new shadow Climate Change ministry.

Albanese could be bumped down the order.
Will Smith be moved from IR?. They should bring back Rob McClelland.
Instead of blaming the leader all the time I wish some in the ALP Caucus would at their own house.
The leader is only as good as the talent surrounding him or her.

I agree larrylaffer. The NSW Lefties who installed the Beazley/Macklin show are in for retribution. Watch for demotions for Albo, Tanya Plibersek, George Campbell, Jenny George.
Lawrence might even catch some of the vengeance.

Could it be Dooog Camerrrron for IR spokesbloke? Bump him into parliament…

Oh no. Poor Beazley, according to the SMH after he lost the vote he was told his brother had just died. Not the best day.

Just don’t like Beazley…
and after that there is decidedly not much talent (maybe Tanner?).
Though be interesting to see how Beazley reacts, despite his comments about party unity after the leadership ballot. Stint on the back bench, remaining on the front bench, stepping down at the next election? He could cause problems especially if there’s a “bloody” preselection in the West…

I wonder if Howard will stick around for this one? I suspect he might just do a runner early in the new year.

After watching his 7:30 report I am convinced that the bastard will win the next election. Everything he did is just how I would have done it. Focus on families, industrial laws as “ideological”, public services, he answered the questions very well and with the focus on content.
Anglican “Kevin Michael Rudd” M = 1000 d = 500 c/K = 100 L = 50 v = 5 i = 1
M+D+D+C+C+K+L+L+V+I+I+I = 2408
1000 x 100 = 100 000
500 x 500 = 250 000
(LK) 5000 x (LII) 52 = 260 000
= 610 000/1000 = 610
LI = 51
V = 5
= 666
Heavvie Kevvie, Pixie, TinTin,
24 x 24 = 576
4 x 6 = 24
7
7 x 7 = 49
7 x 365 = 2100 + 420 + 35 = 2555

No offence Patrick - but I can hardly see your strategy of posting Mathematical equations sweeping the ALP to power.
Anyway, if the ALP loses the next election (and runs hard on IR) does anyone think they will:
a) resign themselves to keeping workchoices; or
b) attempt a messy divorce from the unions; or
c) keep opposing the changes?
I did not think Beazley could win the election. That being said, I do not think Rudd will win either. I despair at the state of the Federal Caucus but I guess everyone should get behind him now.
P.S Liam - I did not know that either Jennie George or George Campbell held a portfolio? The ALP website makes no mention of it. What will they be demoted from?

Not that it should matter but Rudd is in fact Roman Catholic. It is his wife who is Anglican, and he worships with her. Who knows, he might even worship her!

“My hero is the son of an obscure Scottish coal miner who had no formal education. He taught himself to read using the Bible and founded the British Labour Party. Keir Hardy, a Presbyterian, was a man who said he could not sing hymns with people on Sunday and ignore their terrible working conditions on Monday. He said he believed in the Fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of men.”
“Speaking at the Melbourne Prayer Breakfast at the Grand Hyatt, Mr Rudd, who is an Anglican, said that Jesus didn’t separate private religion and public action. “He told us to feed the hungry, give shelter to the homeless and so on. He put no division between the spiritual and the professional. All Christians have a common concern for the poor and for injustice wherever it is found but only a government is powerful enough to deal with large-scale issues such as slavery, child labour, providing universal education and public hospitals.”
He is very clearly an Anglican. His wikipedia profile says that he was raised catholic but attends church with an anglican wife.

Of course Anglican media will claim him as an adherent. As I said, he does worship in the Anglican Church, but he is very much a fish-eating Papist!
In any case his religion should be just that - his own. And private.
