If you haven’t already seen There Will Be Blood then go go go and watch it because I watched it on Sunday and I’m still thinking about it two days later.
Also: I’m taking my waafe and going to Meckthico.

This is a real spoiler so do not watch this unless you have already seen the movie.

Possibly the worst movie I’ve ever seen. Plot would have been helpful, or even a hint of a general direction.
“Part morality tale, part Shakespearean tragedy”, they said. WE WAZ ROBBED, I say. Ten perfectly useful dollars gone, never to be seen again. That’s 1 1/2 beers here in the citeh!

Are we talking AUD, Josh?
Where’d you see a movie for $10? And what volume of beer are you buying? At my local that’d be an easy two and a bit schooners of Old, and that’s after the [dramatic music] Gentrification Price-Hike of 2004.
Why I remember the old days when a $10 note was a recipe for a hazy afternoon, a slow walk home and a nap…

Well I’d hate to think that any of our readers were u/18s drinking beer in the citteh. Perish the thought.

Never heard of cinema membership? Or even discount Mondays/Tuesdays? I can’t remember the last time I paid the crazy full rate (what is it now, $17?)
Plenty of bottled beers going for $7 around Martin Place, I’m sad to say. Passed a pub in St Peters yesterday advertising $2.50 schooners - now that’s retro!
But that thing calling itself a movie really was impressively bad. And did anyone notice that the music score was nominated for an Oscar???

That is pretty damn retro. Which pub? That kind of pricing lends itself to partying like it’s 1997.

Fortunately they have tightarse Tuesdays in London at my local cinema, and I saw it last night for £3.50. Can’t complain too much about that.
Josh, surely you are being just a tad harsh - I thought all in all it was pretty good. Not brilliant, perhaps, but unconventionally presented and worthy of kudos for that. The soundtrack from Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood was quite interesting, and it was a good looking film. The wordless opening sequence was great.
Daniel Day-Lewis seemed to turn into his Gangs of New York character occasionally, but it’s not too surprising that he clinched the Best Actor Oscar (finally).

Overall it needed something, but I’m willing to forgive the inbetweens for the moments of aceness. Like this one, and also that scene in the chapel.
