Alex Hawke: Don't.
From today’s SMH:
“The fact is that he really didn’t need to campaign,” Allison says. “Hawke will win, and from the springboard of a safe seat like this, who knows where he’ll end up?”
WE HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Good stuff. Hawke is so divisive he might be able to do to the federal Libs what he’s done to the NSW ones, although they don’t seem to need much of a push in that direction, IMO.

He’s also creepy-looking. Honestly, even the most dyed-in-the-wool lib voters in Mitchell must be having private qualms about him and his freaky eyes of darkness.

Yes, because it’s such a terrible thing to have well-connected creepy-lookin’ people occupying your safe seats.
Ribbit.

Yes, but we’vebegun the purge. There’s no reason we can’t continue.

Well while Hawke may have won his seat, I see there was a swing of over 9% to Labor in Mitchell. Congrats to the candidate and their campaign team … that is an awesome result in a seat like this!

While I dislike Alex as much as the next person I am more interested in a purge occuring in State ranks.
Have you ever seen anything sadder than the Members list of the NSW Parliamentary Labor Party? Half of them struggle with their shoelaces.
This might be a good time to declare a conflict of interest: I captained a footy team Alex played in. Not so freaky on a field, though still a bit…odd.

Yes, well, I would say that the purge will happen at the next election at this rate. The NSW Libs are looking at least passably electable after getting rid of that deadshit Debnam, and given the coast-to-coast stuff and the general state of disapprobation at policies ranging from desalination to trains to Royal North Shore to proposed privatisation of the energy industry, you can bet the swing will be on if this continues.
Incidentally, can I say Huh? at the two-pronged attack of the NSW Liberals on their national colleagues in the last week of the campaign? On the one side, Leaflet-Gate. On the other, Debnam taking it upon himself to unilaterally declare that Kyoto should have been ratified. Yes, some great minds there.
Oh, and re: footy - really? Pix?
