Obama Bashing
Howard has surprised everyone with his “Rove moment”, bashing US Presidential candidate Barack Obama.
Howard effectively said that being Barack Obama, being a Democrat, and voting for the Democrats “would just encourage those who wanted to completely destabilise and destroy Iraq, and create chaos and victory for those terrorists”
This has been much commented on in the blogosphere.
I’m sure we all identify this as an instance where Howard’s famous political nous has failed.
Rudd quoth:
Mr Rudd said Mr Howard’s comments were short-sighted and irresponsible.
“Mr Howard must not allow his personal relationship with President Bush to impact on Australia’s long-term alliance relationship with the United States,” Mr Rudd said. “The alliance … has prevailed with such strength and certainty because it has always been above party politics.”
UPDATE:
The Age is using the stoush tag.
11:08am | Howard defends Australia’s contribution in Iraq as stoush with US presidential nominee heats up.

*Commentary that seems to be forgotten is that George Bush made a similar foray into Australian politics during the last election(2004) with a very similar comment, as well as the US ambassador at the time, who should have been dragged out and shot(not literally of cause, inciting violence is hate language!) for his forays. I think Obama should stfu, as I do not remember him condemning George Bush’s comments than. I also think his comments about commiting 20 000 troops border on lunacy and he has needlessly aggravated the alliance with his ignorance. While I sympathise with Americans who resent foreign intrusions into their elections, they can really be the last people to complain about it.
Australia should not remove her troops without due process from the war in Iraq. Australia has an obligation to help build Iraq after helping to destroy her.

Replace the hers with its than. Sorry, I agree with you on that, I have just been reading some old English history where the phrase is used with superfluity.
