Get Rid of Beazley
The Federal Labor caucus must dump Beazley by January 2007 if Labor is to have a serious chance at toppling Howard next November.
I’m happy to say that I’m on Team Rudd; Beazley is too right-wing, too isolated, too boring and has made too many mistakes.
However, I am not in favour of a bloody and open coup. The assassination of Beazley must be done quietly over Christmas.

Is Rudd any less right wing than Beazley?

besides, rudd’s said he’s supporting beazley (see today’s oz). bullshit story stirred by malcontents and bored journos. notice the switkowski report has just about wiped it clean off the pages today? shows how much substance there is in it.
if there was gonna be a move, it’d be at the next caucus meeting on tuesday. the tap on the shoulder would’ve already happened. clearly it hasn’t, so he’s going nowhere.

Wishful thinking. However, I hear on the grape-vine that there are some union factional heavies going after Beazley because of his poor performance on WorkChoices.
But, you’d know better than me Dibo…

I am team Gillard. My opinion on Rudd is that he would make a valuable 3ic.

‘Aboard the Gilly train’, I believe, is the correct phrase, Arleeshar. Though I suspect Cityrail services may be delayed.

Rudd derailed Latham and now he is derailing Beazley. I hope they unceremoniously kick him out of the party.
Gillard is the real potential.
Another thing, if Beazley loses the next election, that throws Carr into the mix. Nice Sydney weekend my arse.
Hopefully that will mean that the slimey orificial residue Rudd will never become leader.
Funnily enough, although I never believed Carr in a total sense that he did not have at least one eye glancing to Canberra if the conditions were right, a mate of mine has revealed that before Carr quit, he had been paid to do a survey to look at and give opinion about potential state labor leaders. He said that he had given Iemma a resounding NO in the polling but well….

Tsk, tsk. You’ve got to read more trash fiction and watch more war movies, Patrick. Third In Command/Third In Charge.

rudd is a christian fundamentalist.

That’s quite unfair to Rudd, larrylaffer. It’s true he’s religious, but compared to the religious lot on the other side (Tony Abbott, Danna Vale, not to mention the NSW Taliban) he’s a model of keeping his God out of his job, and more importantly out of his Caucus.
No matter what, his religion shouldn’t be a matter for leadership contention—and I don’t see any problems in the Federal Party that merely replacing Kim with Kevin would solve.

I’m no great fan of Rudd but am open to the possibility of him being more palatable to others. However, I’m concerned that his sniveling, sneering and monotonous tone will send him the way of Simon Crean. Does the ALP really need another Crean experience?
I’m on team Gillard.

You complain of Rudd being sniveling then you endorse Gillard?
I’m on Team Rudd, and was in the Beazley, Latham, Rudd contest of years past.
Today, more than ever, the ALP need a strong Qld presence. Rudd will give a 5% lift just by being a local and not another Melbourne/Sydney focussed leader like Crean, Gillard, Latham, Keating and Howard.

With talent so sparse in the Federal Caucus (specially from the National Right), Rudd is about as good as it gets. He’s certainly much better than Beazley.

Rudd is good, but I think Julia should be a serious option too. She is brilliant, nott o mention many people favour her.

Never write off the Bomber. I think the experience last time showed that perhaps it would be smarter not bring in a fresh leader just before an election.
The Victorian State election also showed that is not a smart move and Federally the ALP is a lot better off than the Victorian Libs were.
The only exception is if a State Leader stuck their hand up as they are at least experienced in the mind of the voters.
